ModAH Collection

A repository/database of epidemiological models

The ModAH Collection initiative is an innovative effort dedicated to compiling and sharing mathematical models that represent epidemiological systems in animal health. Supported by INRAE, particularly its Animal Health division, this repository serves as a valuable resource for researchers and policy makers in veterinary epidemiology and public health. Objectives are to facilitates search, access and reuse models for the animal health scientific community. By providing access to a large collection of models, the initiative aims to encourage collaboration, promote best practices and make available valuable modeling resources.

Objectives of the ModAH Collection

  • Comprehensive Model Repository: The initiative seeks to gather a wide array of mathematical models addressing various aspects of animal epidemiology. This includes models related to disease transmission dynamics, outbreak forecasting, control strategies, and the impact of interventions on animal populations.

  • Facilitating Knowledge Sharing: By making these models accessible, the ModAH Collection promotes the dissemination of tools and methodologies within the scientific community. It encourages collaboration and the exchange of ideas among researchers in animal health.

  • Supporting Research and Education: The repository may also serve as an educational platform, providing students and educators with practical resources for learning and teaching epidemiological modeling in animal health.

  • Promoting Best Practices: The initiative promotes standardization in model development, documentation, and usage. This ensures that models are reliable, reproducible, and can be effectively utilized by others in the field.

Benefits of the Initiative

  • Advancing Epidemiological Research: Access to a comprehensive collection of models accelerates scientific discovery and innovation in understanding and controlling animal diseases.

  • Enhancing Disease Control Strategies: Policymakers and stakeholders can utilize these models to simulate scenarios, assess potential outcomes, and develop effective disease control and prevention strategies.

  • Supporting One Health Approach: By focusing on animal health, the initiative contributes to the broader One Health effort, integrating human, animal, and environmental health to address zoonotic diseases.

  • Facilitating Rapid Response: In the event of emerging infectious diseases, readily available models can aid in quick analysis and response planning, helping to mitigate impacts on animal populations and related industries.
